228 – Wikipedia to the rescue!

It’s a sad day when a website that provides accurate, helpful information for residents and tourists in Taiwan (and has a long track record of doing so), starts to regurgitate bland epithets about important issues in Taiwan’s history.

Is the publisher trying to avoid offending anyone? Is there even an author? There are few facts, no commentary, no stated authorship… I guess they subscribe to: “No names, no pack drills!”

I will not link the site, but at least Wikipedia has some more straightforward explanations, including naming principal characters in the events.

It annoys me… but there isn’t much to be done. My initial efforts have been rejected as insubstantive or inconsequential. So rather than direct you to a waste of space, here is a much better website but turn on translate first!
