I was sitting in class with my students on Tuesday, when the older of the two young men (about 21 years of age) announced that he had been selling diet pills on Yahoo! Auctions. I was surprised, and he showed me the ones he was running that day.
You could have knocked me over with a feather when he told me he was selling about NT$150,000 worth of merchandise and that he cleared about 10% of that once he had paid for his products.
This was a shock because this guy didn’t have his own homepage, URL or anything. I’ve heard that a lot of local people here use Yahoo! Auctions for daily commerce, selling anything from used electronics to branded goods.
Am I missing the boat? Frankly speaking, I don’t want to sell diet-related products, though judging by my fitness levels, I should probably be buying them by the ton!
