Social media doesn’t think it has a fraud problem…

Yet time and time again, I get adverts that are basically either soliciting contact details for frauds or are actively falsely advertising as being connected to a celebrity or are advertising fake work scams. In fact, some people ended up being murdered by human traffickers not too far from where I live.

Social media doesn’t do much about the problems, and bounces my flagged posts right back at me. I guess that’s what happens when you’re too busy making billions. The amount of bots, scammers, hackers on Social media is truly astounding.

You don’t realize it until you peek under the covers by managing a large group (I quit eventually) or get attempted scams in your feed such as those promising work or big profits for doing nothing except acting as a money mule. Too often younger people fall victim to these either as purchasers on Marketplaces or job candidates.

Then of course, there’s the new scam highlighted by TaipeiTimes.
