Looking after your photos?

By | October 22, 2010

Every program these days for photographs for personal memories, and the non-professional markets, seems to try to provide EVERYTHING in the box. And there are so many choices out there that it’s difficult to find anyone actually selling real photographs software for personal use.

From slideshows to movies, most programs offer a wide range of organizing, editing and output capabilities. You can make movies, soundtracks, montages, t-shirts, mugs, photobooks, and a whole range of things. What software are you using?

There are also websites that aim to do the same thing, such as market leader, Flickr, Photobucket, and a swathe more, that promise to look after your photos. The only problem with photosites is when they close down or go out of business: are your snaps safe?

So I use Picasa to sort them and organize, I backup the entire folder on HD and on the Internet, and I upload some of the copies to Flickr. At least I hope I’m covered. I already have over 10000 images, I wouldn’t want to lose them!
