Intense Debate: IPhone vs. Desire

By | February 12, 2011

In general, while the apple iphone is wonderfully designed and a sensational product, I believe that Android will eventually have far more apps available for it because Apple’s strict rules for apps may prevent or inhibit some companies from creating apps for the Iphone.

While this is not necessarily true at the moment, if Steve Jobs decides that (for example) the Kindle app no longer fits the criteria because Apple doesn’t get a slice of the pie, it’s bye-bye!
Jobs/Apple have already done this to a number of apps that didn’t fit their preconceived notions of finance or propriety. The eco-system is really nice, it handles well, and it works; but ultimately it will play 2nd fiddle to Android for many reasons.

I still haven’t bought either, but with the Iphone 5 just around the corner, we’ll see what it brings to the table: Android phones still have tethering, additional battery and Flash support as well as proper multi-tasking capabilities. I can’t help thinking that, the Iphone is still limited deliberately, for consumer, design or pricing reasons. Mmm. Which will you buy?
