Day 5: Rest Day?

3 days of exercise, followed by a Yoga day with some extra walking. Then a ‘rest day’ in which I still managed to go for a run. I was quite surprised.
Not only did I finish in less than 20 minutes, but the 2nd K was under 9 minutes.

So the first K I ran in slightly over 10’10” which was pretty fast for me for the first K. But the second was faster at 8’57”. I adopted a strategy of running fast for 150m, then slow for 100m. This was repeated four times. So the calories burned are hard to calculate, I’ve got numbers from 150~250 from various places. No idea.
However, the KGs are NOT falling off. I don’t know what’s happened. I burned nearly 1000 extra calories above BMR (est. by Google at 1728) and made nary a dent in the weight total. I’m going to keep doing it for 10 days, to see what’s changing. If anything. It’s hard to turn around the Titanic, so losing this weight will be just as difficult.
I’ve noticed that some habits have started up again that I’m not controlling: bad sleep, junk food, rice, carbs at odd times, failing to limit eating hours. Perhaps when I can deal with all of those, I can actually achieve something. Who knows. 85 days to go. 6 kgs to go. 6 months gym membership to go.
It’s true: you can’t learn to run faster by NOT running faster!
Gym has been an education: warm up, treadmill, different machines each night, stepper/cross trainer, and rowing machine. Craig Ferguson recommended one I’ll have a look for. Tks.
I don’t know if Punk Rock helps me run faster… but faster paced music seems to influence my pace. LOL!
