Even a lowly job can teach you a lot!

I was just chatting with a student of mine who’d been writing about Federer’s ability in tennis. It’s that focus that really helps to drive one forward. I learned my focus when I started working in rather dull admin jobs in Edinburgh.

I worked doing menial clerical tasks, pretty repetitive and dull. Although I was okay at doing the tasks, I realized that I didn’t want to work in a cold, sterile office for a life insurance company all my days. That’s when I began to dream, and search for my first toehold on my career.

I’m still searching for the next toehold, but it’s amazing how far I’ve come since those days.
