In short, I don’t think so. Taiwan is quite a hot and humid climate, so the added ventilation in most buildings is helpful. However, even the Minka Aire wouldn’t be that effective. In combination with a decent AC system, it would certainly move air around more efficiently. And it might help keep your overall bills down.
If you are living in a building with lower ceilings, though, you do risk killing yourself on those blades! We did have several ceiling fans, and I loved them. Nice lighting, and an elegant solution to annoying floor fans.
