It seems that Buy.com’s website is undergoing a redesign. I am getting two different page styles for the sale page. I’m not sure why. Anyway, it’s what is on the page that counts, not how it looks!
And today I’m looking at a great device. A Network Attached Storage Device, called Netgear ReadyNAS Duo RND2150 Network Storage Server. I’ve looked at the technology of how to turn your old PC into an NAS type device. In fact, there’s even free software that you can download to do this.
However, purchasing an NAS type device may be more economical and less trouble in the longrun. Why? Because I could never figure how to put together such a device, and like most customers, I’m too lazy to spend the extra time making it work. Worse, I don’t have anything like the appropriate background to do anything other than change the power cables.
So devices like the Netgear ReadyNAS Duo RND2150 Network Storage Server – RND2150-100NAS really appeal as an economical and fast way to add extra storage. Right now, I’m running two extra backup disks at school, and still copying things the old fashioned way using Windows Explorer (did I say S-L-O-W?) so the added convenience of buying a ready to go type machine really appeals.
How are you backing up your data? Of course, you ARE backing up, aren’t you? Tell me you have some disaster plan in waiting!
