I used to visit the webmasterworld … forums for help on my website, I hoped that one day I would be able to spend time accessing, learning and sharing my own experience on the forums. Today, when I decided to visit their forums, I found the following:
“Why you would want to subscribe is best heard from the members in this thread entitled Why Should I Subscribe?”
So I clicked, and all I got was the same information.
For four years we have operated Webmasterworld under the quiet terms of a contributionware site. It continues to be our goal to raise the quality of material available on Webmasterworld and to remain an independent site that serves the community. It has been by the generosity of our members we have not only been able to do that, but have become known net wide as an authoritative source on search engine optimization and marketing matters… etc.
I surely understand their issues, as the costs have expanded faster than their resources, so they were forced to do something. It’s just a shame that the $89.00 is the current price. I feel that a lot of smaller developers might be scared away by the price, unsure of the value, uncertain of how the advice they will receive will impact their business, perhaps they run sites that are non-commercial. Then for all of these reasons, $89.00 might be scary.
