Eating in a local fries joint: Tamsui

By | March 3, 2012

I’m reluctant to name the restaurant because I don’t want to get sued by their boss, who probably cares more about his finances than his customers.

Let me tell you it is named after one European country’s most favored vegetable!

Can’t really recommend this fast food joint for the following reasons on the day we were there, if you plan to sit in and eat!

  • No mashed potatoes despite being on the top of the menu,
  • Potato skins were still cold and not cooked properly, they were also excessively watery,
  • Broken glass all over the floor,
  • Dirty tables with sauce on them, uncleaned and garbage, too,
  • Staff who need a little more training (though we were offered a replacement… but I didn’t reckon it would be better!),
  • We asked for an extra cup (no!),
  • We asked for a plastic knife (no!).

All in all, this restaurant needs a proper manager to see that the product is served properly, supplies are ordered, and cleanliness is maintained. But hey, this is Taiwan! So let’s see if they can do better next time!

The beer and French fries were excellent, but I recommend you buy to go, and stick to the cheaper items on the menu (esp. fries), and the beer. The sauces are tasty, the fries nice and hot, and the beer properly chilled! Just don’t expect too many frills, despite the price!
