Today I began teaching my blogging course for beginners. Though the students are learning English, I’m hoping that the use of social media tools will really help them to grasp a functional and relevant use of English.
So I’m planning a three-fold approach to helping my students:
1. Teach blogging skills: including CMS, maintenance, etc.
2. Teach writing skills for modern media: including grammar, style, etc.
3. Teach English for reading and discussion.
Throughout this I will create a cycle of recursive learning. We will loop back on topics, vocabulary, and blogging in an ever-widening spiral. I’m hoping that this will enable them to get a context for studying English, a context that is different, meaningful and interactive: so much better than a dull classroom.
